Hanna Cavinder Rejoins Miami Hurricanes for One Last Shot
Hanna Cavinder is making a return to the basketball court with the Miami Hurricanes for the 2024-25 season after taking a year off. Announcing her decision via social media, Cavinder expressed her renewed passion for the game and her excitement to play her final collegiate season.
From Hiatus to Hardwood
Following a year focused on business ventures and other interests, Cavinder’s return to Miami is fueled by her enduring love for basketball. During her hiatus, she felt a growing desire to return to the sport, which she shared with her fans online. “The past few months I have been itching to get back to the game that I thought I lost the passion for,” Cavinder stated. “With that being said, I am returning for one more season.”
Impactful Collegiate Career
Before her break, Cavinder played a crucial role as a key reserve guard in the Hurricanes’ historic Elite Eight run in the 2022-23 season, where the team finished with a 22-13 record. She averaged 3.8 points and 1.3 rebounds per game during her time at Miami. Prior to joining Miami, Cavinder had a standout career at Fresno State alongside her twin sister, Haley, averaging 15.7 points per game over three seasons.
As Cavinder prepares for her return under Miami’s new head coach, Tricia Cullop, the Hurricanes look forward to leveraging her experience and skillset for another promising season. Her decision to return marks an exciting development for both her personal career and the Miami Hurricanes as they aim to build on their previous successes.
